Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the 6th International Rice Blast Conference (IRBC) organizing committee, we would like to invite you to attend the 6th IRBC, which will be held at Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel in Jeju, South Korea, from August 20 to24, 2013.

Rice blast disease remains the most destructive disease of cultivated rice worldwide. Considering that rice is the staple food for more than half of human population, the disease is a significant threat to food security for many nations. It is therefore imperative to devise the novel and stable control strategies for the disease, which requires understanding of the pathogen, rice blast fungus and its interaction with rice or other host plants. International Rice Blast Conference (IRBC) has been the forum to foster collaboration among scientists around the world. Not surprisingly, much progress has been made again in a wide range of research topics on the biology, genomics, host-pathogen interactions, resistance, and disease management since the last Rice Blast Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. To share the recent advancement in scientific researches and to broaden our understanding of the disease, we host the 6th IRBC in beautiful island of South Korea, Jeju. We cordially invite you to this exciting meeting held in the UNESCO Heritage and the New 7 Wonders of Nature!

The meeting promises to be an exciting venue to update you on rice blast disease. It is anticipated that over 250 participants will attend the conference, providing a unique opportunity to promote scientific collaboration. A field day to observe rice and rice blast disease will be held during the conference. Welcome reception and conference dinner will also be held in the Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel.

Please register for the meeting and submit your abstract for presentation or for poster. The various deadlines for the meeting are posted on the 6th IRBC website at http://irbc2013.riceblast.snu.ac.kr/.

The conference will start on Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Please plan to arrive in Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel in the afternoon or evening of Monday, August 19, 2013.
